How does Tooele compare?

Tooele County School District alongside its three initial peer districts, measured the same way from the same sources. Add any other Utah district to the comparison.

Why these districts?

Iron, Cache, and Box Elder are Utah districts outside the Wasatch Front’s largest urban systems, with a mix of growing suburban and rural communities. No peer is a perfect match — differences in student population, geography, and local economy can explain real differences in cost. As the statewide dataset grows, the project will define peer groups from enrollment, growth, geography, and demographics rather than relying on these three alone.

Reading comparisons fairly

A difference between districts is a starting point, not a conclusion. Before interpreting a gap, we check student needs (special education, English learners, economically disadvantaged students), geography and bus routes, enrollment growth, and local income and property values from Census data.
